Mirza Abbas, a senior member of the BNP’s Standing Committee, has strongly criticized the efforts to abolish the constitution, which he says was written in the blood of the nation’s martyrs.
He stated that while the constitution shouldn’t be abolished, it could be amended if needed.
Abbas shared his thoughts on Sunday, December 29, at the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, during a press conference.
He was there to meet with the newly elected leaders of Dhaka Metropolitan South.
Speaking about the ongoing debate over the constitution, Abbas said, “It is regrettable to try to abolish the constitution, which was written in the blood of martyrs.
The constitution should not be abolished, but it can be amended.”
This comment came after the Discrimination-Free Student Movement and the National Citizens` Committee revealed that on December 31, they would present the “July Revolution Proclamation.” They also announced that they would be discarding the `Mujibist Constitution of 1972.`
In addition, Rizvi spoke about the recent fire at the Secretariat, suggesting that it wasn’t just an accident.
“The fire at the Secretariat was not an accident,” he said, adding, “The fire was deliberately instigated from within the Secretariat itself.”
